Always use a fully functional measuring device- we recommend a traditional tape measure and keep a pen and paper handy.
Ultrasonic devices can be inaccurate.
Measure the longest length and the widest width (write the figures down immediately), making sure to measure directly into any doorway.
Multiply the two amounts together and you should have a square area size in a metric amount or imperial amount.
Please note that if you are using metric, please measure in linear metres rather than centimetres as this can cause massive over estimations!
Example
6m x 4 m= 24 m2(square metres)
16 feet x 13.5 feet= 216 sq. feet
To convert square feet into square metres you first have to divide the total amount of square feet by 9 which will equal your total amount of square yards.
216 / 9= 24 sq. yards
Then very importantly you divide the total amount of square yards by 1.196 and this will give you your total amount of square meterage!
24 / 1.196= 20.067 square metres
Any odd shaped rooms that have large bays or features- take their nett measurements and subtract it from or add to the total using the same technique as above.
VERY IMPORTANTLY ADD 5 - 10% TO THE TOTAL AMOUNT to allow for installation cuts and wasteage.
There are 3.34 square metres per box and these boxes cannot be split.
Divide your total amount of square metres by 3.34 and this will tell you how many boxes you will need.
Example
22 sq. m / 3.34= 6.59 boxes
Boxes cannot be split so round up to 7 boxes
Add 5 - 10% and therefore you will need 7boxes
This is how a professional estimator would work out customers requirements.
Nett measurements and nett orders always normally cause mistakes on installation.
Please check and double check measurements as we cannot be responsible for others miscalculations.
